Internet Information

The hardest thing for finding information in the internet is that I get frustrated when I can’t find any of the information that I want to find. Mostly when I look something up it is very easy because  it is like the computer can read my mind, but when I can’t find information on a topic that I need I get frustrated and I search in different word phrasing until I am able to find the answer.

When given a specific topic for research that needs to be done. I break down the topic and look for special components to search. Since a topic can be very broad you need to break it down into sub-categories.
The library research course made me realize that not everything in the internet is correct information. I had in mind that anyone can put information and make a website, but I never had that in mind when I am researching a topic. I learned that you have to verify information from websites before you use it . This is very important because if you use that information on a research paper and it is incorrect the unfactual information can affect your grade.

Some websites on the internet are very obvious that the information is not true and that people are not going to believe it. While other websites can be tricky putting information making it seems factual.
Knowing how to find information about the user that posted the information can be very helpful to determine which website to use. If the person that posted the information was a doctor I am most likely to believe it than a person who does not have a degree.  A doctor is more educated so it is most likely that I will believe their information.

The Internet or Books?

“Since everything is on the internet, I don’t need books…..right?”

The internet can be a reliable source for information, but it depends on what kind of information and the time dedication you put to find that information. When you are looking something quick and easy on information on “vital signs” you are going to get quick answers. You will get the basic information on the vital signs, like blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiratory rate. This type of question is one that you don’t really need to look up in a book because of the time. Sometimes you just don’t have the time to look things up in a book and people go to the internet because it is just easier.

When you are given a complex topic to do research the internet is not the only source there is. You are going to have to do more research that may include going to the library and look at a book. Books have much more reliable information because it is credited, since in the internet people have easy access to post basically anything they want.

Looking at the type of website can help you know if the information is correct, but sometimes you have to analyze the website even closer because you can be fooled with the information that is posted.
In order to be successful while doing research in the internet you need to need to break important key words to be searched in the internet. You may also want to reference to books because books have useful information as well and if the research depends on your grade you should make sure you put effort in it by researching the topic carefully.

The Future of Libraries

The typical Liberian that we know is the lady that sits in a desk who helps a kid find out a book for his book report project and the one that knows about all the books even the ones with dust and where to find them.
Today most Liberians not only know about books, but they also know about computers and the internet and technology gadgets. They know about the latest software programs to help you out on your class assignments. Liberians are very helpful because sometimes I need help with an assignment and they help me through the process.
We think that because Liberians are mostly old ladies that they don’t know about technology because I know for sure that my mom doesn’t know to open up her email. The typical Liberian is not just a female; there are also males that work in libraries too and do the same thing other Liberians do.
Liberians would be really cool if they could juggle books. I am really not sure of what would be cool if Liberians started to do, but I think they are awesome already because they help me with my homework when I have no idea.
The world is advancing with new technologies that help us for our daily lives. For instance, the ipad has any features that make our life a lil bit easier. I am guessing that in 20 or 30 years that library’s are not going to have books, instead they will have digital copies because things like the Kindle where you download your book and have easy access to it. I think this would be awesome because books are kind of heavy especially when you are carrying more than two.
Libraries would also have much smarter computers because inventors keep making new designs and with much more memory, like the new touch screen computers that are so cool.
I think that because not that many people visit their local libraries that they would be vanished in the future, hopefully in the future they would have many people of all ages using the library as a resource.

My College Foundation

Many students when they go to college are sure of what their major is and hope to graduate with it. For me right now there are many subjects that interest me, but they are all categorized in the same subject, science.

The many different areas from biology interest me since the subject has always been fascinating to me. Psychology is the other subject that interest, me because the way that the human brain function and how it varies from person to person is very intriguing. In college I also want to take a class about ethics since I want to be in the medical health field I want to have better knowledge about the different types of people I am going to deal with.

Since I will be the first in my family to go to college I might want to take a class about Mexican history. Even though I am going to be a more educated person I do not want to leave my culture behind me because even though I might not show how important to me it is right now in the future it will be.

Pre-collegiate is helping me out all out because now after a week being in the program I can see that college is challenging and you need to step up the game. The program is the foundation for my further education as well as the other students in the program.

When I go to college I will be prepared ready to go because this program is helping to achieve the expectations of the college professors. For this program I have learned to manage my time wisely, a skill that I have not developed in high school and now I have accomplished it. I was like a baby that learned how to walk before I could even walk.

Now I am ready for the month left of summer and my senior year. I am going to be prepared for high school as well as college since I have developed new skills in the pre-collegiate program. I as so thankful I am in this program because it is the foundation of my future.
